Australia vs New Zealand – 2025 Dining Out Trends and Restaurant Stats

As we settle firmly into 2025, it’s the perfect time to assess how the previous year went and decide any new priorities for the year to come.

ResDiary’s annual hospitality industry report is a data-driven initiative to support you with this, comprising both dining out trends and restaurant stats.

At the start of the year, ResDiary consulted 41 venue operators and 113 diners across Australia and New Zealand to get insight into restaurant data and dining out trends across 2024 and into 2025.

From this, we discovered that while Australia and New Zealand share plenty of similarities, their dining habits are far from identical.

Our Beyond the Booking 2025 hospitality industry report revealed key insights that highlight how the hospitality landscapes in these neighbouring countries differ — and what that means for venue operators in both regions.
